      • Updated FormattedAddress to prioritize a street address in Addressline1 and a PO Box in Addressline2 if both are in the address
      • Fixed an issue where extra thoroughfare directional (N, S, E, W) could have been parsed as a subpremises number
    • Austria

      • Improved Thoroughfare parsing
    • Belgium

      • Improved casing for thoroughfares with l’ at the beginning
    • Bahamas

We have updated our data source for Bahamas due to an availability issue with our previous source data.

      • House number data no longer available
      • Improved thoroughfare level coverage
      • SubAdministrativeArea no longer returned
    • China

      • Improved parsing of postal code values in the input address
    • Germany

      • Postfiliale data now available in our reference data. This is in addition to Postfache and Packstation data.
      • Improved logic to avoid false coding by de-prioritizing partial postal code matches. This was based on our analysis of customer input patterns and we determined that this logic was too aggressive
      • Improved thoroughfare parsing
      • Added additional thoroughfare synonym values to improve coding rate
    • Great Britain

      • Fixed an issue where the Organization value returned was a similar value to the input but not the best possible match
    • Hong Kong

      • We have made a major improvement in the parsing and coding logic to significantly improve coding accuracy and coding rates
      • Fixed an issue where sometimes, the subpremises, subpremiseslevel, building, or subbuilding parsed value was not returned in the Address lines and FormattedAddress

      • MelissaAddressKey now returned again
    • Italy

      • Improved handling of the different variations possible for numbers or roman numerals (20 vs Venti vs XX)
    • Luxembourg

      • Fixed a rare issue where the country name variation used could have had an impact on the coding of a few edge cases
    • Mexico

Melissa has made a heavy investment into Mexico address data. While we already have access to data from Correos de México (SEPOMEX), this data is postal code level only. We invested a significant amount of time, effort, and capital to find possible sources, evaluate and test them, and acquire the best data.

      • Improved coding rate with the new data source
      • Improved accuracy of the latitude and longitude values
      • The Locality values more closely align with Correos de México (SEPOMEX) and do not have the prefix (ie: Colonia, Fraccionamiento, Rancheria…) included
      • Fixed an issue where the country variation on input could affect the coding of some rare edge cases
    • Spain

Based on user feedback, we have made a serious effort in doing data cleanup and also adding new data from other sources. Unfortunately, Spain address data is not as clean and uniform as other countries in western Europe. Melissa is dedicated to making sure the best data is available for our users and we have made a major addition to our data with this update.

      • Added an additional data source to fill in gaps in coverage
      • Improved coding rate
      • Fixed an issue where street information was sometimes missing when coded to AV12
      • Updated FormattedAddress to better match postal preferences in edge cases
      • Improved handling of building in the FormattedAddress
      • Improved handling of premises and subpremises values in the FormattedAddress
    • Sweden

We have updated our data source for Sweden. Based on customer feedback and our own evaluation, we have determined that a new source with improved postal code and locality data was necessary.

      • Improved data accuracy between localities and postal codes
      • Improved coding rate
      • Postbox data no longer available as the data was determined to be outdated
      • AdministrativeArea preferred name no longer has “Län” as suffix (Skåne vs Skåne Län )
    • United States

      • Added over 660 thousand non-postal addresses for our reference database
      • Improved handling of identifying street vs high-rise addresses when there is a conflict in the source database
      • Fixed some edge case issues related to unique Zip codes where Addressline1 and Addressline2 values were being swapped
      • Improved quality of DeliveryIndicator and reduced number of Unknown (U) values returned

Changed

  • General Update

    • We have fixed an issue where double spaces in the address lines and FormattedAddress was being replaced by a single space as a data quality cleanup step. However, this conflicted with several countries, Australia and Netherlands in particular, where double spaces was not required but preferred in certain place. We have rolled back this cleanup for these two countries to better match postal preferences.

Previously, due to being SERP certified, we had to stick to the results expected by the SERP test. Now, we are adding a secondary mode in the engine so that we can return what many people expect, while still having the option to switch to SERP mode for certification.
